A "Usenet Newsgroup Service" is an online provider to over 100,000 global discussion forums through a single (or multiple) newsgroup servers. Access is usually provided by giving the user a log-in (username) and password, along with the NNTP Server name.

The discussion forums are divided by topic, and are sometimes moderated to reduce SPAM and other problematic posts.
